OE QUALITY CAMPAIGN PUSH CONTINUES

by

OESA-group_smallThe campaign by original equipment suppliers to promote the quality of their parts is gatheringmomentum with the announcement of several new members to the group.

The Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA) now has 16 OE manufacturers on board as Federal Mogul, Mahle, Corteco, Yuasa, Bosch and TMD Friction have joined the campaign. Wabco and Knorr-Bremse represent the CV sector, while other new members are anticipated soon.

The new additions boost the campaign as it develops a new run of advertisements following the first ‘horsemeat versus beef’ push.

As well as new print adverts, the next phase will also include an enhanced online presence. Content on the oe-suppliers.org site will increase and include technical videos and literature to download.

The original campaign launched at the Manchester Mechanex in May and offered visitors the chance to compare OE components against alternatives. The campaign says it was well-received by visitors with one technician labelling some of the matching quality parts on the stand as ‘a betrayal of trust’.

Nigel Morgan, Group Chairman and Managing Director of Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket UK Ltd, said: “The overwhelming majority of components produced by the members of the group are destined for the vehicle manufacturers.

“The fact is we supply these exact same parts to the aftermarket in our own boxes, so you know that they have been designed, manufactured and tested to the exact demands of the vehicle producer.

“And when you are talking about safety critical components it could be your customers’ lives at risk, not just your reputation.”

The original founder members of OESA include Banner Batteries, KYB, Mann Filters, NGK Spark Plugs, Remy, Schaeffler, Sogefi and ZF Services.
