IGA’s Trust My Garage challenge to aid BEN

Trust-My-Garage-Charity-Challenge-newThe Independent Garage Association is readying itself for a four-day promotional tour, which will benefit automotive charity BEN.

The Trust My Garage challenge will see two cars leaving the Retail Motor Industry Federation’s office in Rugby, Warwickshire and travelling the length and breadth of the country to as many member workshops as possible to spread the message about the scheme and raise support for BEN.

Two teams consisting of Regional Development Managers will set off on April 7, leaving promotional material and contact information about Trust My Garage, while also collecting money along the way for the charity.

Stuart James, IGA Director, said: “It’s great to be doing our bit for BEN and also raising awareness of the high quality independent garages that are out there. The challenge will be to visit and photograph as many Trust My Garage sites as possible while raising as much money as we possibly can for BEN.”

The road trip will conclude with both teams arriving back in Rugby on April 10 at BEN’s Town Thorns care centre.

This fundraising drive for BEN comes after the automotive charity was given a coveted star rating by The Sunday Times as it was declared as one of the Top 100 Best non-profit organisations to work for.

The award was given based on the direct feedback from employees, in an independent workplace survey, assessing the critical aspects of their employment, including personal development, wellbeing and value of the organisation in giving back.

David Main, BEN’s Chief Executive, said: “Our automotive community is built on the passion of its people and, it is this that sustains our team’s commitment to serving those who are distressed, struggling or in need of care. Working so closely with an industry that views us as an essential service provides us with an unique insight.”
