Citroen C1 1.0 2005 – onwards

This vehicle is commonly affected by several starting faults which can cause the starter motor to burn out.

1. Poor connection between the battery earth lead and transmission housing can cause the engine to crank slow which would result in excessive cranking in an attempt to start the vehicle, this result in the starter motor overheating and burning out.
2. Stiff or jerky operation of the ignition switch due to insufficient lubrication can result in the key not retracting correctly. This can result in the starter motor receiving continuous power to the solenoid causing the starter motor to run in mesh and burn out.
3. Contamination in the catalytic convertor can cause poor starting conditions. This is usually caused due to carbon deposits causing the spark plugs to fail, which would result in excessive cranking in an attempt to start the vehicle, this result in the starter motor overheating and burning out.

Citroen C1 1.4HDi 2005-2010

This vehicle is commonly affected by several starting faults which can cause the starter motor to burn out.
