Inside Line: Autoelectro

On petrol 1.4- and 1.6-litre models a poor or non-start fault may not be the starter motor, but it can be attributed to a Power Steering module software fault, and a re-program of the power steering control module with upgraded software can cure the reported issue.

Other than that when it comes to starter motors the OE numbers must be checked to ensure vehicles fitted with STOP/START have the correct heavy duty replacement part fitted.

There are no common issues with the alternators, so it looks like they are quite a good buy.
