The CAT Council

Welcome to the CAT Council

We want CAT to remain at the heart of the UK aftermarket, and to help do that we want to hear from YOU.

We’ve gathered a council of some of the most influential people in the aftermarket to discuss the issues facing our industry. We’ve collected opinions from suppliers, factors, garages, retailers and manufacturers to bring you unique discussion and insight.

The question we asked the council this month was:

Where do you think the aftermarket will be in five years time, and what challenges does it face?

Where will we be in five years? That largely depends on the independent garages investing in training. Fault diagnosis can be a nightmare now, Lord knows what it will be like in 5 years. We see more and more garages attempting to return electrical units where they’ve “tried” the unit, failed to fix the problem and then returned it. Go to a main dealer and attempt to return an electrical part, you’ll get told politely to “go away”. The independent aftermarket should follow suit and not bow down to the customer every time.
