SMP Europe honours 51-year service of Paul Etches

Component manufacturer SMP Europe has celebrated employee Paul Etches’ 51st year of service with the company.

Etches joined the company as a coil assembler after leaving school, and has since risen up the ranks in roles including warehouse operations, bulk stores and returns.

“People ask me why I have stayed for so long and really it’s down to the company, the team and the environment,” said Etches. “Every day is something different, which I love.”

SMP cited Etches as one of the most experienced and knowledgeable people in its business. Marketing director Martin Turner described him as a “walking dictionary of everything SMP Europe”, while Etches himself said he could “pick parts with my eyes shut”.

In respect of Etches’ service, the company last year named its conference room in his honour.

“Paul thoroughly deserves the recognition for his 50 years of service,” said Turner.
