BEN cycles to victory

The BEN cycle challenge
The BEN cycle challenge

BEN is celebrating raising £3000 following a 24-hour cycle-thon at the Rockingham race track earlier this month.

The event featured teams tackling the banked oval circuit – thought to be one of the fastest in Europe.

Leading the pack and covering a total distance of 244 laps was the team from B&C Express, closely followed by the AA’s Head Office team with 236 laps. Third place went to the AA’s London Patrols team, which covered 204 laps.

Altogether the teams completed a total of 1,165 laps of the speedway circuit, covering some 2237 miles. That’s the equivalent of travelling from BEN’s Head Office in Ascot to Le Mans in France, then nipping down to Monaco for a lap of the F1 circuit, across to the Nurburgring, and then home with a few miles to spare.

BEN’s Events Manager Kelly Neal said: “I would like to thank everyone that attended for making BEN’s newest event such a great success. Over £3,000 was raised for BEN.  Not only did everyone battle through the rain but the night as well. We send our congratulations to the B&C Express team for being this year’s winners and look forward to seeing everyone for the next cycling challenge.”
