GARAGE OF THE YEAR TOP 100 ANNOUNCED

Motor Codes has revealed the top 100 UK garages in its Garage of the Year competition. The competition asked customers to vote for their favourite UK garage, with record numbers of votes being cast this year. A shortlist of the top 100 garages, with five businesses in each of the 20 categories has been produced.

TESCO CARS CLOSES DOORS ON NEW BUSINESS

Tesco Cars has closed its doors to new orders just one year after its launch. The supermarket chain’s operation had hoped to provide consumers with quality used cars and connect them with a network of more than 1000 independent garages for more affordable servicing and repair work.

ALL CHANGE FOR ATA

The Automotive Technician Accreditation scheme has announced a number of changes for 2012. Responding to feedback from members, the parent body of the ATA, the IMI, has developed a new program designed to make ATA training: “more accessible, flexible and cost-effective.”

VMS IN EUROPEAN COMMISSIONER’S SIGHTS

Philippe Jean, Head of the Automotive Industry Unit of the Enterprise and Industry Directorate General of the European Commission, visited a garage in Holland for the demonstration along with Colin Parlett from the Independent Garage Association.

Groupauto opts to join the SMMT

Groupauto has become the first factor buying group to join the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. The 110-year-old SMMT represents the interests of the UK automotive industry, lobbying parliament and the media and also incorporates the Motor Code for Service and Repair.
