Retailer of the Year: Wilco Motor Spares

For the second year running Wilco Motor Spares has walked away with Retailer of the Year. Richard Shortis believes that doing the double at the CAT Awards and in the Retailer of the Year category is a testament to the hard work put in by all the employees of Wilco.

“It is a great achievement, and it is all down to the staff for us winning the award for the second year running, and it is a great way to kick off the celebrations for our 50th anniversary,” Richard says. “It goes to prove that we couldn’t do anything without our staff.”

He says that offering a good package and customer service is the key to success, as the market place is so fluid that you have to just adapt with it.

One of the challenges that Wilco has recognised is the attempt by vehicle manufacturers to keep customers tied in with its franchised dealerships, but despite this, Richard believes the aftermarket will prosper as it is good at dealing with change.

As for Wilco, they are aiming for the hat-trick next year, and for Richard himself he wishes to complete a unique double by not only winning in the retail category but also the Large Factor of the Year Award with EU Linco.
