COLD SNAP BRINGS WELCOME RISE IN SALES

The recent cold snap has brought about a welcome rise in part sales and work for garages according to new figures.

Data from online aggregator ClickMechanic found that a variety of vehicle repairs have spiked compared with the same period the previous year. In particular coil spring replacements repairs more than doubled and battery replacements grew by a third.

Interestingly, rear brake work requests increased by 86 percent in the same period, possibly as a result of locked-down vehicle owners leaving their cars standing for extended periods, only to find that the handbrake had frozen on.

Andrew Jervis, CEO of ClickMechanic said: “Motorists should at very least carry out any essential safety checks but ideally, you should get a professional mechanic to inspect the vehicle to ensure it’s safe to drive and possibly prevent further damage.”
