The organisers of Automechanika Birmingham have confirmed that a standalone event will be held in 2022, on June 8-9 at the NEC.
Provisionally titled ‘UK Garage & Bodyshop Event’, the show will focus on workshop training and new technology through a number of conferences and live demonstrations.
Exhibitors will be invited to provide information relating to training on their stands, though they will be welcome to demonstrate new products, hold business meetings etc on their stands as they would at any regular trade show.

Speaking about the new show on a media conference call, Messe Frankfurt UK Sales Director Grant Elrik assured delegates that it would not be ‘Automechanika Lite’ and was not intended to replace the main Birmingham show, which returns in 2023. However, he said it would still provide the opportunity for business interaction that the brand is famous for.
“The feedback from everyone we’ve spoken to is that they can’t wait to get back to live events, to meet face to face,” said Elrik. “We can shift as quickly as we need to when we come out of it”.
While the Birmingham show re-appears in 2023, the main Automechanika Frankfurt is scheduled for September 2022 and a ‘Digital Plus’ version of that event is scheduled for later this month.
