Software house CitNOW has acquired rival Real Time Communications (RTC).

Both firms operate in automotive retail. CitNOW’s best-known product is an application that enables workshops to send a one minute long video directly to customers commenting on the condition of their vehicles, while RTC is perhaps best known for its dealer workshop management package which is updated in real time.

Geoffrey Page-Morris, CEO of CitNOW Group, said: “The complimentary technology developed by our colleagues at RTC will play a big part in helping us to achieve our mission of improving efficiency for retailers and supporting them to maximise their revenue potential”.

Terms of the deal have not been made public, although the acquisition came shortly after CitNOW Group secured a ‘significant’ new from private equity investor Livingbridge, alongside additional funding from current backer Tenzing.

CitNOW has been on an acquisition spree in recent times. Other companies to be snapped up include Web1on1 in the Netherlands, Dealerweb, Tootle and Reef Business Systems in the UK, and Quik in the US.
