ELTA to stock Lucas bulbs at all Halfords stores

ELTA Automotive will stock Lucas bulbs at all Halfords’ UK and Ireland stores, following the awarding of a new contract.

The official licensee of the premium bulb brand, ELTA will supply over five million bulbs annually to Halfords’ network of nearly 400 stores. As part of the deal, it will also supply the huge UK brand with its own Halfords’ branded range.

“Lucas has been lighting our journeys for over 140 years,” said Tim Brotherton, marketing manager for ELTA Automotive.

“In recent years the brand has found great success amongst the automotive trade. Supply into the Halfords network will now provide a direct platform for drivers to access the iconic brand that they know and love”.

The partnership with Halfords has “solidified ELTA Automotive’s position as a premier supplier and expedited the company’s plans for sustainable growth”, said the brand.

Craig O’Neil, director of sales for ELTA, said: “Collaborating with Halfords’ team of ESG experts has been incredibly rewarding for ELTA. Our focus on the needs of distributors, fitters, and drivers has been unwavering, and this partnership places us in an even stronger position for sustainable growth.”

A pivotal factor in forging the new partnership was ELTA matching Halford’s environmental asks, such as the removal of all plastic packaging from Lucas and Halfords bulbs range.

On this, Yousaf Kharal, buyer for Halfords, said: “Based on calendar year 2023 sales, we estimate we will remove 28 tonnes of plastic from the supply chain each year by moving to 100% plastic free packaging with ELTA. This is the equivalent weight of two fire engines!

“A huge win for Halfords and in no small part down to ELTA’s hard work in enabling us to achieve this goal”
