DENSO is expanding the air conditioning part of its business in the UK.

The rapidly-growing company has announced it is making 25 new OEM specification A/C compressors available to aftermarket customers.

The move, which is designed to extend DENSO’s coverage of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, comes alongside news that the company now supplies 40% of original A/C equipment fitted to European cars.

“DENSO now offers 305 OE specification A/C compressor references,” said UK boss Paul Payne. “This includes swash plate, wobble plate and rotating type units covering all major EU and Asian marques.”

UK stocks are being built up to ensure UK aftermarket customers have easy access to locally available DENSO products.

“Our top 70 A/C compressor references will be offered to factor customers on a free, overnight delivery basis,” said Payne. “This should ensure rapid availability for service garages, repair workshops and A/C specialists across the UK.”

He added: “Over 80% of cars now feature air con – so A/C compressors are one of the product groups most frequently targeted by distributors of cheap and poor quality parts.

“The price of these compressors may seem attractive, but there can be commercial dangers – they often fail early.

“In the long term it makes better sense to fit genuine, branded products that work and last.”
