Lawton has headed A1 for the past 25 years and has grown the chain significantly. A statement from the company reads: “During that time he has demonstrated immense loyalty and dedication to A1 and proven to be a very supportive and hard working member of the team. Thanks to Derrick, A1 continues to grow and is now in a stronger position than at any time in its history.”

A1 is keen to promote that for the moment it’s business as usual. The group has emphasized that it is as keen as ever to work with suppliers and grow the chain even further.

Lawton’s successor has not yet been announced.
