After all the deals at this years Mechanex event in Sandown had been done, suppliers were let loose to vent their aggressions on the racetrack at the inaugural CAT Karting Challenge.
16 teams lined up on the starting grid to compete in a grueling 90-minute endurance race. As the chequered flag dropped on the final lap the team of First Line took the win.
The three-man team comprising of Product Manager Craig Saunders, Senior Product Manager Tom Harrison and Marketing Co-ordinator Jamie Hall lined up on the podium to receive their trophies. The fastest lap of the race went to Jamie with a lap time of just 51.774 seconds.
Jamie said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and although it was just a fun event, karting always seems to bring out the competitive spirit and once behind the wheel, everyone wants to win it.â€
All the teams said they thoroughly enjoyed the event, and even though the editorial team eventually rolled home in 11th place we’re already honing our skills in preparation for next year.
CAT Editor Peter Lawton said: “It’s was a great evening and we hope to do it again next year, when there will also be a new rule stating that nobody is allowed to overtake the Editor!â€
Where was our invite then Lads???????????????????
Hi Rob, it was more an event for people exhibiting at Mechanex. Besides, we couldn’t allow you to enter because you would have won! Still, you can join the eds team next year, hopefully you can help us to improve on 11th place!
