IMI and IGA to promote apprenticeships at open evening

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and the Independent Garage Association (IGA) are aiming to bolster SME’s involvement in apprenticeships.

Dr Paul Spears, Head of Return on Investment Programme at the IMI will deliver a presentation focusing on the return on investment and the financial benefit that garages and workshops can receive from being involved in apprenticeships, by referring to some key findings from a recent IMI investment study.

IGA Director Stuart James, said: “Events like this are important for the independent garage sector, as many SME’s would see an apprentice as an extra cost which they cannot afford, as opposed to an asset that they cannot afford to be without; therefore the findings from the IMI need to be reiterated.”

The IGA will be presenting a technical demonstration on the health and safety of hybrid vehicles, while Bosch will give attendees a chance to gain some unique insight into the latest technologies available on vehicles.

The evening event will be held at Bosch Car Service Centre’s PK Automotive Solutions on November 27 in Lincoln, which our very own editor Peter Lawton will be attending.
