GOVERNMENT APPOINTS IMI AS SERVICES PROVIDER

The IMI is celebrating its appointment as the official provide of Universal Services to the automotive retail sector.

Universal Services covers a number of areas, including apprenticeship schemes and occupational standards. The appointment was confirmed by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES).

The news comes off the back of the IMI securing over £3 million of investment from the government for the automotive retail sector. The funds were released as part of the government’s Employer Investment Fund, which aims to deliver projects which boost enterprise, jobs and growth.

The IMI says it took part in a rigorous commissioning process in order to confirm the appointment. COO Linda Stansfield said: “We’re delighted to have been confirmed by UKCES as the provider for these essential services as the Sector Skills Council for the automotive retail sector.

We would like to thank our partners at Skillsmart Retail and Skills for Logistics for collaborating on a joint bid that allows our respective sectors to benefit from ongoing development into the standards and qualifications that support the occupations within these industries.”
