Having warned against declining skill levels last week, the IMI has now launched its own portfolio of training and e-learning courses.
The continuous professional development (CPD) program is designed to help those working in the automotive industry to learn new skills, and update old ones.
Partnering with organisations including ACT, Calex and Mercedes-Benz, the CPD training portfolio covers a wide range of skills, chosen after consultation with those in the trade. Top of the agenda are courses in new technology, allowing technicians to tackle the challenges offered by modern vehicles.
Taking into account the non-flexible working schedules of many mechanics, the CPD courses offer learning in a variety of formats. From face-to-face meetings, to workshops, webinars and e-learning, the course allows technicians to learn when (and how) it suits them.
Course subjects include passenger car technology, vehicle damage repair techniques, sales processes and customer service.
Lesley Wooley, head of professional development at the IMI said: “If you want to achieve more, it’s vital that your skills keep pace. CPD is about developing yourself and demonstrating you are equipped to respond to the rapidly changing automotive industry.
We’re therefore excited to be able to offer a range of courses and e-learning designed to help support ongoing professional development of those working in the sector.â€
