Suspension
It is not uncommon for the BMW 5 Series to suffer from creaking on the driver’s side rear suspension, which is caused by wear to the rear axle bush. To ensure the best possible outcome, the First Line Group (FLG) recommend changing the rear axle bush on both sides of the vehicle to solve this problem.
Clutch
The BMW 5 Series utilises a self-adjusting clutch, so when undertaking a replacement it is important for technicians to check that the self-adjusting clutch cover springs are still in a compressed state and have not been extended.
Some Borg & Beck self-adjusting clutch cover assemblies have a transport device fitted to prevent the clutch from de-adjusting, which should only be removed after the clutch has been fitted to the flywheel.
When fitting the self-adjusting clutch, FLG recommend the use of a specific fitment tool, as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
