Inside Line: Fahren

The Ka has only had 3 recalls via VOSA, though all were for braking issues. Ka’s built between March 1998 and June 1998 often suffered with reduced braking efficiency from the brake master cylinder.

Ka’s in 2002 were recalled to check the security of the front flexible brake hoses. Unsecured hoses can rub against the tyre and wear through, causing a loss of brake fluid.

Finally, Ka’s manufactured between May 2008 and January 2009 may experience the rear brakes locking up as a result of brake back plate bolts not being correctly tightened at production. If a bolt falls into the braking system, it could lead to damage of the brake shoe and/or cause the brake to lock. Fahren advises technicians to check the security of the brake hoses and plate securing bolts on those cars when carrying out routine inspections or brake work.
