The common issues we’ve come across are below:

On all fuel vehicles – Corrosion on the switch for the CD player can cause the CD player to stay powered on when vehicle is parked resulting in the battery draining. This can create a charging or starting fault.

On Diesel Models – Faults with the engine coolant temperature sensor and fuel injectors cause a starting fault and can result in the starter motor burning out.

Most commonly though Alternators can physically look the same but have been designed with different regulators which change the electrical operation of the units. Later vehicles have fully ECU controlled systems whereas the earlier type has a partially ECU controlled charging system. Therefore OE numbers must be checked so that the correct part is fitted.
