Schaeffler’s clutch division LuK has launched a new clutch repair solution aimed at commercial vehicles.
The German giant has a high performance, long-life repair solution which is ideal for CVs doing high mileages and which are expected to be in service for a long period of time.
The new LuK RepSet SmarTAC (Travel Adjusted Clutch) has been designed with maximum durability in mind and includes the latest generation of clutch lining and a precise adjustment mechanism.
It has also proved it is resistance by showcasing it can deal with more than 620,000 miles and stop-start situations that delivery vehicles experience.
The adjustment process is controlled by the TAC which measures the distance during clutch engagement and disengagement. It does this by calculating the distance between the pressure plate and the flywheel, this is translated to the adjusting ring by a spindle with a directly-coupled pinion gear.
As all the adjustments take place on the pressure plate, it means distortion and torsional forces have no influence on the quality of the alteration, giving the TAC a minimum wear range that is almost twice as much as conventional systems.
LuK’s SmarTAC clutch has also been chosen by some CV manufacturers to be the OE fitment, after it impressed on its debut at Frankfurt’s 2012 Automechanika.
