The Petrol Retailers Association has appointed Brian Madderson as its new non-executive chairman, with effect from November 1, 2009.
The appointment marks the final phase of a restructuring process that began in January.
A spokesperson told CAT that the role is effectively an amalgamation of the former director and chairman positions previously held by Ray Holloway and Peter Brough of Manor Service Stations respectively.
Madderson will head up the PRA’s management and act as its spokesman.
Madderson was previously managing director of George Hammond PLC where he was involved with the development of fuel and convenience store retailing in Kent and Sussex.
He was also closely associated with shipping services.
He said: “I will reinforce the position of the PRA as the association for independent forecourt retailers, who own and operate more than 60 percent of the sites around the UK.”
