The SkillAuto competition has announced its regional finalists following a record 1000 entries.

The top scorers have been invited to put their skills to the test at the SkillAuto regional heats. The competition is part of the WorldSkills UK series of skills competitions.

14 SkillAuto heats were held at colleges and training institutions across the country, in three different skill sets, aptly named AutoTech, AutoPanel and AutoPaint.

The highest scoring competitors in each skill will then head into the UK finals taking place in June and July.

The competition is designed to raise both awareness and the profile of skills and vocational training in the automotive sector, whilst at the same time highlighting the excellence of those who enter.

John Dawson, lead judge for the competition, said: “The competitions help to build confidence and the ambition of the technicians who take part and we wish all of them the very best of luck as they progress in their careers.”
