The boys from T&S Motaquip: taking the local factoring market by storm

On the face of it, you couldn’t have started a business at a worse time.

The date was August 1, the year 2008 and Britain had just officially moved into recession. Not only that, but just around the corner lurked the banking crisis – and the onset of the credit crunch.

But August 1 was the date TS Motaquip went into business under the Motaquip Partnership scheme – with new directors Adam and Bernie Taylor, along with Paul Swaby, all giving up secure full-time employment to launch their own company.

Twelve months on though, and with the support of the local garage industry, TS Motaquip is still trading.

In fact, they are more than trading – they are making good money and doing well.

“The support we have had from the trade has been tremendous – we haven’t looked back,” said Adam Taylor, director.

“To start with we were all wondering if our timing in this venture could have been any worse. To launch a new company at the onset of the worst recession for decades, coupled with the banking crisis – who would choose to do that?

“But things have panned out brilliantly and we’ve just grown and grown. Within six months of starting up our company motto became ‘What Recession’, as we were doing better than we ever expected,” added Adam.

Find out how the trio made their first year of trading a success in the October issue of CAT mag.
