BIG Awards hailed a success – full report and pictures

The BIG Awards, which celebrates excellence in the independent garage sector, has been hailed a success.

Hosted by the Independent Garage Association (IGA), this year’s award winners took home a share of a £50,000 prize pot.

Spanning 18 categories, the awards recognised those who work in all areas of the independent sector, highlighting the dedication, innovation and hard work displayed by businesses and individuals “who play a vital role in keeping the UK’s motorists mobile”, the IGA said.

“I’m delighted at the spotlight these awards shine on the tireless commitment to excellence the independent sector provides,” said IGA CEO Stuart James.

“The BIG Awards celebrates the hard work and dedication of our independent garage community and we’re thrilled to recognise and reward their outstanding contributions.”

James added: “Congratulations to all our deserving winners, highly commended garages, and our remarkable finalists, all of whom embody the peak of Britain’s independent garages. Thank you to our sponsors, judges, and organisers whose commitment made this event such a special occasion”.

Money raised for Ben charity

As part of the BIG Awards, attendees raised £10,000 for the automotive charity Ben.

Ben, a trusted automotive charity, offers free support for anyone who works, or has worked in the automotive industry, as well as their dependents. They can help with financial, emotional and mental health worries for those in the automotive sector facing challenges.

James said: “Our sector is built on a foundation of helping one another, and this donation will help provide vital support to our fellow automotive workers and their families. “

“As we continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and in light of the current cost-of-living crisis, there has never been a more important time for our industry to unite to help those in need.”
