GSF Car Parts to open national distribution hub

GSF Car Parts will open a 500,000sq ft distribution hub as it bids to take on the likes of giants LKQ Euro Car Parts.

The hub, which CEO Steve Horne said the firm has needed “for a very long time”, follows a period of rapid growth for the car parts distributor, which now has more than 185 branches – with new sites having just opened across London – and 3,000 team members across the country.

With an aim to improve supply chain infrastructure, the Wolverhampton centre brings together office space, advanced logistics tech – including eight-level access loading doors. The future-proofing hub is also expandable to 750,000sq ft.

GSF said the new hub will also supply branches with 96% stock delivered overnight to improve availability.

By centralising distribution, the company said it will also be able to streamline logistics, boosting service levels and “positioning GSF Car Parts as a formidable national player in the automotive parts industry”.

Steve Horne, CEO of GSF Car Parts, said: “This business has needed a national distribution centre (NDC) for a very long time but for one reason or another, it was never quite able to make that leap.

“When the opportunity arose to acquire this superb facility, in a perfect central location, we jumped at it immediately.”

It comes less than a year after GSF was sold to UK-based private equity firm Epiris, with Euro Car Parts founder Sukhpal Ahluwalia co-investing.

Ahluwalia, executive chairman of GSF, said: “From Day 1, we knew that we needed a new NDC to support our ambitious growth plans.

“Today, less than a year after acquiring GSF Car Parts, we have got that done. The speed with which we have managed to complete this important step is validation of the amazing team that we have at GSF. They are really the very best in the business.”
