63 PERCENT OF DEALERS PLAN TO HIRE MORE TECHNICIANS IN 2021

Despite the hammer blows dealt to the retail motor trade in 2020, a majority of dealerships said they were planning on increasing headcount next year.

Answering the question ‘do you plan to recruit in the next three months’ 63 percent said they are planning to recruit technicians, 53.8 percent of respondents said they are looking to recruit sales staff, 46.1 percent service advisors, 36.9 percent apprentice technicians and 26.1 percent call centre staff.

The survey was conducted by the RMI’s National Franchise Dealer Assoc. with a sample size of 917 respondents.

Another key finding was that over 80 percent of dealers who responded to the survey plan to use the funds from the apprenticeship levy in the next 12 months with more than 50 percent planning on recruiting apprentice-based roles in the next three months.
