The move will mark the first time that Amazon has entered the business insurance market in any location, although insurance from third parties has been offered through the platform before.

As part of the ‘Business Prime’ programme, the deal will allow firms to buy cover, including contents insurance, professional indemnity insurance and cyber cover, underwritten by ‘major UK insurers’.

“As businesses come out of the pandemic and gradually resume normality, we want customers to have best-in-class tools to run their businesses,” said Molly Dobson Country Manager for Amazon Business UK and Ireland.
