Autodata has stepped up its effort in tackling pirated data with the help of Trading Standards.
The technical software company spoke with Trading Standards members at seminars and the Trading Standards Conference on the topic of fraud.
It wanted to raise the awareness of using out-of-date and dangerous data, and to show how identification of users, and convictions of those selling pirated versions of the software, were vital in eradicating software piracy.
Rod Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Autodata, said: “This gives us the chance to ensure that they see first-hand the efforts that we are putting into the fight against sellers and users of counterfeit garage software and how we are supporting our users running legitimate garage businesses.
“By choosing legitimate software, technicians will have the very latest in OEM data and the full support of the skilled Autodata staff. Workshops shunning legitimacy open themselves up to relying on obsolete, and potentially, very dangerous data.”
Autodata says working with Trading Standards allows it to reach out to more customers and allow it to carry out spot-checks with garages to identify out-of-date and pirated software.
