BOSAL BACK: TOWBAR PRODUCTION TO RESUME

Exhaust and touring equipment brand Bosal has announced that it will rebuild it’s towbar division to serve both the aftermarket and dealer fitment on new vehicles. A range of push bike carriers will also be introduced along with an app that connects to the vehicle and allows users to remotely check trailer brake lights, weight distribution and tyre pressures.

Bosal Aftermarket will sell the ranges in the EU via its extended distribution networks. Traditionally strong in Germany, France and Benelux, the firm has said that the towbars ‘will be available in the UK’  but that no distribution channels have been identified yet.

Bosal’s Preston depot closed in 2018 due to the firm’s UK arm BAIC (Bosal Automotive and Industrial Components) being put into administration. BAIC was itself a ‘phoenix’ company having previously bought Bosal UK out of administration in a pre-pack deal in 2013.

The announcement comes three years after the firm sold off it’s European production in Hungary to TowerBrook Capital Partners. New products will be developed and produced at facilities in Turkey and South Africa.
