COPART TO DOUBLE SIZE OF BEDFORDSHIRE SITE

Vehicle auctioneer and dismantler Copart is to double the size of its Bedfordshire site.

Subject to planning permission being granted, the expansion will increase the size of the site to just under 60 acres, doubling the annual storage capacity to 80,000 vehicles.

The news represents further investment in the area by company, which opened customer service centre in Franklin Court, Bedford, earlier this year. It also follows recent announcements about expansions in Bristol, Wisbech and York, as well as plans for a new 31-acre site in East Kilbride, which will double the company’s operational capabilities in Scotland.

Copart UK and Ireland Managing Director Jane Pocock said: “These expansion plans for our Sandy Operation Centre will further strengthen our presence and operational capabilities in Befordshire and will provide more future employment opportunities in this area”.

Subject to all relevant planning permissions, the firm anticipates the additional 27 acres at the Sandy Operation Centre, which currently employs around 80 people, to be operational by December 2021.
