Following a following a recall notice from the manufacturer and a product safety notice issued by Health and Safety Executive, DVSA have advised users to stop using a range of scissor lifts until a rectifying kit has been fitted.
The lifts in question are Werther (also branded OMA) Saturnus EV 40, 45 and 50, manufactured in Italy and sold between 2014 and 2018.

The manufacturer has identified a potential weakness in a weld and they have provided a kit which should be fitted to the scissor lift, advising that the lift should not be used with a load exceeding 3.5 tonnes until the kit has been fitted.
However, while awaiting the fitting of the kit, DVSA reports that a 4.5t lift catastrophically failed with a load of just 2.5t, prompting the advice to cease use regardless of load.
