‘Fit it For Me’ scheme generates £1m for garages

National chain LKQ Euro Car Parts has said that its controversial ‘Fit it For Me’ platform, where garages fit parts supplied directly to the customer from the factor, has generated £1m in additional labour for the independent aftermarket since its launch in May 2020.

ECP’s ‘Fit it for Me’ scheme has moved a significant volume of stock since its introduction

The scheme has not been universally popular with garages, as many have objections to fitting parts that they have not ordered themselves. However, ECP has been quick to point out that Along with generating £1m in labour sales, more than 1,500 garages have now received bookings through the service, with 89 percent securing repeat visits from customers.

Anthony McAteer, Trading Director at LKQ Euro Car Parts, said: “We launched Fit It For Me to help independent workshops bring in more work via digital channels, while tapping into a pool of end users that they wouldn’t necessarily have had direct access to before – like those who’ve traditionally had a go at small repairs themselves, or who use a dealership because they can’t find a trusted alternative.

“Of all online parts sales in the UK, half are ultimately installed by garages anyway. Our ambition with Fit It For Me has been to simplify the process and maximise the benefits for garages and their customers, by ensuring quality repairs, first time, every time. The take-up we’ve seen so far – and the fact that we’ve reached this £1m milestone – demonstrates that both sides clearly see its value.”

Junior Nandra, owner of Fit It For Me-trusted garage All Fords in South-East London, added: “I’d encourage any garage to sign up to this service if they can – it’s a great opportunity to bring new customers to your garage who would never have considered anything other than visiting a dealership.

“Technicians shouldn’t underestimate the impact a simple part installation can bring – no matter how small the job. If customers are impressed with your service, they’ll come back to you in future for higher-value work.”

Earlier this year, LKQ Euro Car Parts also introduced a labour guarantee for garages that use the service.
