GSF contacts Independent Garage Assoc. regarding sell-off

Following the recent announcement that LKQ Corporation has acquired the Canadian parent company of GSF Car Parts, the Independent Garage Association (IGA) has been contacted by GSF to assure the IGA and its members that the business will be ‘fully divested from LKQ’ in terms of aftermarket parts supply in the UK.

Stuart James, IGA Chief Executive said: “We are pleased that GSF has reached out directly to the IGA to provide reassurance to independent garages. As the trade body and voice of the independent garage sector, we welcome engagement with the parts sector to ensure garages have access to a fair and competitive aftermarket parts supply chain, and we are satisfied that GSF’s management are committed to ensuring full and fair competition is in place.”

  1. Sadly LKQ will just toe the company line. They will have told the IGA what they want to hear. LKQ ‘planted’ their own man in at GSF before the deal was announced. That probably tells you all you need to know.
Judge them by what they do, not what they say.

  2. Without GSF there is still plenty of competition in the aftermarket, LKQ are the biggest followed by AAG and then you have the smaller companies like MPD, all the independents and genuine parts suppliers like TPS. Stop moaning GSF, you won’t be missed.

    1. Sorry to say a link up with Euro Car Parts Not a good move.Having been in the motor trade for some 60 years I have seen many great brands such as Unipart,Andrew Page plus others disappear from the market place reducing competition I fear the GSF link up does nothing to create competition .
Fortunately if you have a garage in Herefordshire or surrounding areas could I suggest you give T M Factors a call their branches in Hereford,Leominster and Ledbury will give you excellent service, prices and 100% service
