HALFORDS TRIAL COLLECTION SERVICE

National chain Halfords Autocentre has launched a trial of a pick up and drop off service.

The plan, created in the face of the national lockdown, is being tried in 30 branches and if successful will be rolled out across the network. It will not affect the firm’s ‘Mobile Expert’ service.

After the customer has booked online, a technician will call The technician takes a number of  measures to keep customers and their vehicles safe,  including ventilating the car, wearing a mask, disposable gloves and fitting a protective car care kit including seat covers, hand brake wrap and steering wheel covers.

Aaron Edwards from Halfords Autocentres who is responsible for the service says: “By introducing a contact-free collection and delivery service, we believe we will give customers who are staying indoors or self-isolating the option of making sure they can still take their cars in for a service and MOT and ensure they are safe and roadworthy.”

The trial comes shortly after DVSA announced that around 88 percent of independent garages offered a pick up and drop off service.

  1. Bit late, our garage has been doing free collect/deliver for the past 20 years. Funny how the survey comes out and then they are wiling to adopt a service most independents have been doing for years.
