Airbags could fail after 10 years - Volvo Trucks

by CAT

Volvo Trucks is advising customers to replace their vehicles' SRS airbag modules after 10 years.

In a statement issued today, Volvo said that it cannot ensure the integrity of the system beyond a service life of 10 years.

According to Volvo’s technical services division, plastic parts within the SRS air-bag age and the material’s characteristics may change, potentially affecting the effectiveness of the system.

Volvo Trucks was the first CV manufacturer to install air-bags as standard on its FH range in 1995.
