The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) are supporting CrimeStoppers’ ‘ShopKind’ initiative.
Alongside the Home Office and various large retailers, the PRA has joined with independent charity CrimeStoppers, have launched the ShopKind campaign to remind the public to treat store workers with dignity.
The necessity of the campaign has been borne out of a deeply troubling rise in violence against store workers. Members of the Petrol Retailers Association have remained open during the pandemic, keeping the country fuelled and fed.

Gordon Balmer, PRA Executive Director, commented: “The PRA wholeheartedly welcomes this important and unifying initiative to assist in protecting our members and their teams. The overwhelming majority of the public treat front line staff workers with respect, however, a small minority continue to think it is acceptable to be aggressive and violent.

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable at any time, but for it to take place during the Covid-19 pandemic is all the more shocking. On behalf of our members, the PRA will continue to work proactively with law enforcement, local authorities and the Government, to ensure store workers are given adequate protection”.
