USED CARAVAN SALES SURGE

A used caravan dealer has reported a surge in demand for it’s stock over the last year as people look to take holidays in and around the UK.

Chesterfield-based Robinsons Caravans says the Coronavirus crisis has resulted in a huge increase in demand for caravans.  In the second half of last year, it saw a 32 percent increase in orders when compared to the same period in 2019.

Paul Seabridge, CEO, Robinsons Caravans said: “The Coronavirus crisis has resulted in a surge in demand for caravans as people are restricted from travelling overseas and can only holiday in the UK.  Even after we are through the worst of the crisis, many people – especially those aged over 50 – will be nervous about travelling abroad so we expect demand for caravans to remain high”.

The report reflects an overall trend of an increase in caravan buying. In 2020 the average lead time for a new unit increased from eight to 16 weeks, although this could be put down in part to increased social distancing in the factories.
