APRIL DEALER REOPEN DATE ‘VERY DISAPPOINTING’

The head of the National Franchise Dealer’s Association has expressed frustration that car dealerships will not be able to reopen for another seven weeks.

“We understand the importance of bringing the virus fully under control.  However, it is very disappointing that dealerships will not be able to reopen until April” said Sue Robinson,  NFDA Chief Executive.

NFDA has already made the Government aware of the safety procedures dealerships are able to follow, and of how important it is for our sector to reopen as soon as possible. There are more than 4,500 franchised dealerships in the UK, with over 590,000 people employed in the retail side of the automotive industry”.

2020: VAUXHALL BOSS HITS OUT AT FRANCHISE ‘CATHEDRALS’

April 12 is the date given by the government when various businesses, including car dealerships, can re-open to the public in England and Wales. Scotland is following a similar timeframe, although the First Minister has confirmed that sites can access showrooms ‘to conclude purchasing a vehicle’ from today.
