Carrying on the Inside Line series, we move on from looking at the premium supermini, the Audi A1 and turn our attention to the Korean Hyundai i30. Now in its second generation the i30 is a popular vehicle originally launched in 2007, which saw the manufacturer launch a big push to force its way into the European medium hatchback market.
It found itself in direct competition with the Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Astra and the Seat Leon among others.
However, the i30 was a revelation to the market as it came with more standard equipment than its European counterparts, including alloy wheels, air conditioning, automatic lights and glovebox cooling.
The first gen Hyundai i30 was launched with a range of powerplants for motorists to choose from, which included 1.4- or 1.6-litre petrol engines and 1.6- or 2.0-litre diesel options. This variety of engine options and large amount of standard equipment have provided technicians with extra challenges.
